Living Room Renovation

When my husband and I first moved into our apartment it was supposed to be a temporary situation. His grandparents own the home and the rent is small, so thought it would be good to save some money for a few years to buy something more permanent. When I started nursing school we put our home buying on hold until I graduate. This meant we would spend more years here than we had originally planned. We were both disappointed but also have found ourselves maxed out on space. I had pretty much come to the conclusion the place would be sort of cluttered until we move out because we have no where else to put our things.

Then my sister, Mandi, from Finding Home, came home for a visit. She spent almost two days renovating, redecorating, moving furniture and organizing three main parts of our home that needed it the most. Here are the final pictures.

Quilt rack and pictures in a corner. I call this my grandmother's corner since she made four of the pictures there.
TV moved to a different wall between two windows. The couch is right in front. This is a window Mandi found in Canada that we hung with a berry vine wreath in the center. It looks so much better than the shelf I had there with a million country decorations on it.

A red dry sink redone. I had this on a different wall that was too small for it. I also had it stuffed with books and photo albums. Now all that stuff is neatly put away.

From one side of the living room.

From the opposite side.

Rocking chair with my dog's pillow in front of the window.

The BEAST! I bought this treadmill last year and it was the source of much turmoil since it takes up so much room and really can't fit into the doorways of either of the bedrooms. It has to stay in the living room which meant we had to figure a way to make it work in the room. We ended up putting it along a wall behind the couch. I think it works!

There are no before pictures but I can tell you we decluttered a lot! I had lots of country decorations and we pared everything down so it all looks more clean. I'm forever grateful to Mandi for coming and helping me get this all figured out.
